Lara has been involved in many community projects. Since 1997 she has participated in six Richmond Symphony Designer Show Houses, has created artwork for Virginia Commonwealth University's Alumni House, made quilts for Mary Munford Elementary School, and created sets for various local theater productions.
She has taught floorcloth construction classes at the Visual Art Center of Richmond and has been Art Director of Cadence Theatre Company's summer camp program.
